Apple ready to launch into ad space

There's no such thing as an iAd -- but there may be soon.

Apple is a marketing machine capable of whipping consumers into a frenzy over its latest gadget -- witness the hype surrounding the new iPad. And now Steve Jobs' company is said to be readying a system for delivering ads across its growing array of mobile devices, including the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch.

Rumors are swirling that Apple could announce the details of its mobile ad platform as soon as today. Fueling speculation, Apple sent out invitations for a preview of its latest operating system for the iPhone.
